A Love Story by the Sea – Mike & JoAnne’s Beach Session

When Mike first reached out to schedule a photoshoot, he had one clear vision: the beach had to be the star. For Mike and JoAnne, the beach isn't just a pretty backdrop; it's a place filled with memories, laughter, and countless sunsets shared over the years. So, it was no surprise that when it came time to commemorate their vacation—and JoAnne’s birthday—their love story unfolded perfectly along the shoreline at sunrise.

Mike and JoAnne's love story is one for the books. It all started back in college when Mike was swinging for the fences on the baseball team, and JoAnne was putting her heart into every golf swing. Both of them champions in their own right, they won national titles in 1977—a year that clearly had some magic in it. Fast forward through three kids, five grandkids, and a lifetime of adventures, and here they are, still chasing sunsets together.

Too often, couples let their wedding photos be the last time they capture their love story. But as Mike and JoAnne remind us, love only deepens with time. This photoshoot wasn’t just about snapping a few pictures; it was about celebrating the journey they’ve been on and the many more adventures to come. Whether they’re hiking their way through all 64 National Parks (they’ve done 35 so far!) or spending time with their growing family, they’ve made it a point to cherish every moment together.

One of the things I love most about my job is how often it leads me to incredible people like Mike and JoAnne. They found me through a previous client I had the pleasure of photographing, and it's moments like these that remind me just how powerful word of mouth can be. It’s an honor to capture these memories for them, knowing that my work has been trusted and recommended by someone else who values it.

The morning of our session was a peaceful one, with just enough cloud cover to paint the sky in soft, warm hues. Mike and JoAnne, dressed in neutral beachy tones, fit right into the serene landscape. The way they looked at each other, the way they laughed, and the way they simply enjoyed being in each other’s company—these are the moments that made their photos so special.

One of my favorite shots from the session was of them sitting on a bench, gazing out at the ocean. You can feel the love they share, a love that’s grown stronger with each passing year. JoAnne’s smile radiated so much beauty, and Mike’s adoration for her was evident in every frame.

It was an absolute honor to capture Mike and JoAnne's love story on the beach, a place that holds so much meaning for them. These photos are more than just pictures; they’re a celebration of a life well-lived together. And for anyone reading this—don’t let your wedding photos be the last time you capture your love story. There’s always more to tell, more memories to create, and more moments to cherish.

Thank you, Mike and JoAnne, for allowing me to be a part of your journey. Here’s to many more sunrises, hikes, and beach vacations!
